Is your child receiving / has your child received Free School Meals or Pupil Premium funding during the past 6 years? Pupils who are in receipt of Pupil Premium Funding are eligible to receive up to a 50% discounted rate for Sound Roots instrumental lessons at Balfour Junior School. If you select 'Yes' your child's name will be cross-referenced with the school's records and eligible pupils will be offered a reduced rate, pending consent from the school. (Balfour Junior School / Sound Roots cannot accept financial responsibility if this question is answered incorrectly, though we will do everything we can to ensure funding is applied appropriately to any student who qualifies for it)

Since Sound Roots is an external supplier of services to your child's school, we need to ensure GDPR protocols are met. As such, Sound Roots needs to share some basic data (pupils' names and classes) with your child's school in order to facilitate timetabling lessons etc. This information is never made public, it is only known to Sound Roots, the school administrative staff and yourself. We may also include your child's name in a printed / online format (e.g. in a Concert Programme). Sound Roots will only include your child's first name on public materials in order to comply with GDPR protocols. Your personal data will never be shared with any other party. You may contact us at any time to ask what data we are keeping and how it is being used.

For ease of communication we use a WhatsApp Group for parents and add the contact number provided on this form. Please opt in or out depending on your preference to be included in this group. It makes it easy for us to send quick general messages and reminders this way, rather than emails, which we have found can get lost in busy inboxes!

All lessons are subject to a 24 hour notice period for cancellation. Any lesson cancelled with more than 24 hours notice will not be charged. Any cancellation with less than 24 hours notice will not be rearranged and will still be charged. We will always do our best to accommodate requests to alter timetables in advance, so please do give us as much notice as possible if you can see a timetabling issue which will affect you.

 All fees are calculated on a pro rata basis so if your lesson length varies from those stated on the website the fee will be calculated accordingly. Fees are payable upon receipt of an invoice from Sound Roots, and commitment is on an ongoing basis. Should you wish to cancel your child’s instrumental lessons please confirm this in writing by emailing us. All fees are subject to annual review, and are kept in line with the Musicians’ Union’s recommended rates. Availability depends upon space in the timetable and room availability at school, so your place is not guaranteed when you submit the application. We will contact you in due course to advise if we have a place available, or if your child is to be placed on a waiting list. Placed are offered on a first come, first served basis.
