Bryony started her teaching career at the age of fifteen, while she was still at school. Her parents were against her taking a Saturday job, so this seemed a good way to earn a few pennies! She can date her interest in, and enthusiasm for teaching music from those far off days.
Subsequently, she studied the piano and the oboe at Trinity College of Music, eventually starting her first piano and oboe teaching job as a newly qualified teacher, at King’s School, Rochester.
Bryony has worked there ever since, but has also had teaching jobs with Kent Music School and Medway Music Association, at Whitgift School and Goldsmith’s College.
Bryony has had a private teaching practice at home for many years, too, which continues today.
As an oboist, Bryony has enjoyed an active and varied performing life, in orchestras, chamber ensembles and as a soloist.
As a teacher she remains passionate about laying a strong musical foundation and passing on the skills she has learned to others of all ages.
