We are currently delivering private music lessons at Balfour Junior School on the following instruments:
- Piano
- Recorder
- Tenor Horn
- Trombone
- Trumpet / Cornet
- Other brass instruments on request
Lessons are delivered on a 1-1 or small group basis and will last for 30 minutes, taking place either during the lunchtime break or the afternoon session at school. A rotating timetable may be operated so that pupils don’t keep missing the same class session each week. Even though the lesson time may change each week, the day of the week for your child’s lesson will remain constant for the term.

FUNDED GROUP SESSIONS
Further to offering private lessons, we are also pleased to be delivering fully funded brass ensembles at Balfour Junior School to a limited number of pupils. In 25-26 we are teaching 3x 40 minute group sessions; an advanced ensemble for pupils who have previously learned a brass instrument, and 2x taster sessions which will feed into a beginner ensemble for new pupils who wish to learn and have fun playing in an ensemble! These lessons are provided free of charge to you, and an instrument and music book will be provided for the duration of the time your child is attending the sessions. These sessions are very popular, so if your child is interested in joining the waiting list please contact Mr Farmer.
Children are also able to take private lessons alongside joining the free ensembles (please check the fees page as private lessons are charged per lesson).

It is important to consider factors such as set-up cost, instrument size and weight etc. before choosing the best option(s) for your child. Bear in mind that they will need to carry their own instrument(s) and book(s) so this might be a factor in helping you decide which one(s) you choose.
